➞ I’d helped build a farm-to-table cooking school, catering company, and restaurant where we grew our own produce, eggs, sheep, and honey.
➞ I’d even opened a restaurant in China!
But nothing could have prepared me for the challenges of balancing family life, my career, and my deep desire to make mealtime mean something to my family.
➞ I dreamed of my wife, my son, and I preparing amazing meals together in perfect harmony—but cooking beautiful food day in and day out while navigating life as a parent often left me feeling exhausted.
➞ I still loved cooking—but suddenly, I felt overwhelmed by the constant worry: Was I making the right foods my son needed to thrive? Was I providing him with the “right” nutrition & mealtime habits?
➞ I wanted to introduce our son to a world of interesting, nourishing foods—but often, he would push the plate aside and ask for something else. (What an exercise in patience!)
